I previously wrote about how Lisa Hanfileti from Insights for Acupuncturists wrote Complementary & Alternative Marketing: How to Attract New Patients, Market Your Practice, and Earn Passive Income With Your Acupuncture Website. She talked about how she made $11,168.81 in her first year online, working part time. Lisa is having fun with it - it’s as much a hobby for her as a business.
It’s pretty nice when you can do something you love… and get paid for it.
It’s even nicer to get paid for something you love … even when you’re not doing it.
That’s what passive income is all about. After setting it up, you don’t have to actively work to get paid.
A few people contacted me asking about the system. I think it’s great, as long as you realize that she was using a website targeted at acupuncturists who want to build their practice, and not her clinic’s website. As I mentioned before, I don’t believe selling things to your existing or future patients is a good use of your clinic’s website. I just haven’t seen it done successfully. From what I’ve seen, no one has made back enough to pay for the time invested in this. (If you have, please leave a comment so we can learn from your success.)
That doesn’t mean it’s not a great idea to make a second income online. Like Lisa says, you have specialized knowledge as an acupuncturist that you can use, and others can benefit from.
You just need to expand your thinking past your own clinic. For example, if you specialize in treating people with anxiety, migraines, fertility, etc. you can help people with those problems. Better still, you already KNOW those people intimately. You know them as individuals, AND as a group. You’ve heard firsthand what they’re going through. You know their language and how they talk about their problem.
I’ve heard so many times from so many acupuncturists that if they get a chance to talk to someone about their health problem, the person will usually become their patient. What if you could sell your knowledge without being in the same room? Wouldn’t that be a good way to help people and get paid for it?
I found something that explains EXACTLY how to do this.
Desperate Buyers Only explains exactly how to find solutions people desperately want to buy, how to talk to them, how to write a short report, and how to sell it to them. The only thing it doesn’t cover is setting up a website, but Lisa’s book can help with that.
As an acupuncturist, you actually have a huge advantage over most people who might try to reach “desperate buyers.” You’re already very familiar with desperate people, and can therefore bypass much of the legwork recommended in the book.
This is a proven, step-by-step system, with checklists, worksheets, places to look up desperate buyer problems, etc. Even with all this support, it’s still a pretty simple system. I’m impressed with it.
The only downside is it’s not a cheap book. I’m disappointed in the price. Still, it’s worth it for two reasons:
- If you actually create your own manual or report, it should pay for itself at least 20 times over, in just one year. You’ll get paid every year after that. Work once, help people, and be paid forever. What could be better?
- The author will give you a free half-hour consultation to help you with your topic, report or manual. (This is worth more than the price of the book.)
If you use the Desperate Buyers Only system, you can have a sweet little side business that deposits money in your bank account on autopilot. Don’t take my word for it, of course. It’s guaranteed for 60 days - if you don’t think it’s worth it, just request a refund. You won’t even have to return anything - it’s the honor system.
Read more about Desperate Buyers Only here. Let me know what you think.
(If you have questions about setting up a website for Desperate Buyers, feel free to contact me personally. I may even be willing to partner up with you so we can both play to our strengths. But even if that won’t happen, I’d still be happy to help out.)
Like I said, Lisa has the right idea about making a second, passive income. And she’s not playing around. People who buy her book are going to be able to attend a bunch of bonus webinars. The webinars themselves are probably worth several times the price of the book alone - and you’ll get them free if you already have her book. Here’s the list (note that there will be recordings, so don’t worry if you can’t be present):

Hi Burton,
Thank you so much for all of your tips and help. Because I like what you have to say and I trust you, I just quickly checked out the website for “Desperate Buyers” and it seems a little over the top and a bit salesy. However, I am interested in the possibility of being an “infopreneur” as an income source. I really need to diversify my income more. So I am wondering if you have any more information, experience, or opinions about this business than what you have already shared? Thank you again for all that you do for the OM profession.

Kristin,
It’s simply the best, most complete, and most relevant system I’ve ever seen for acupuncturists interested in becoming an “infopreneur”. Literally nothing else comes close.
Even if I dug up 5 or so separate ebooks, I doubt as a group they would cover all the bases like this book does. They also wouldn’t weave it together into a system, which is very, very important. If you actually try to become an “infoprenuer” from another guide, you’d have to figure out a lot more of the steps on your own. This would make you much less likely to succeed.
Also, remember there’s a guarantee for the book. If the actual book turns out to be a turnoff (not just the sales letter) you can get a refund.
So you’re right, the sales letter is a bit salesy and over the top. It is focused more people who just want to make money or “get rich quick” instead of help people. If you read the sales letter, the desperation is just something to take advantage of. Not very nice!
Still… I suggest holding your nose, ignoring the “packaging”, and focusing on what’s actually inside. It’s that good.

Thank you Burton for your insight. I appreciate the time and research you put into your recommendations and I feel much more receptive to find out what’s in the book! Kristin

This is quite true. Your website is wonderful. I think that yours Kevin and Lisa’s websites will be very helpful as I enter school.
