I have only read a third of Never Market Again so far, and already, I have been putting your theories and suggestions into practice and seeing results! It is providing the much-needed guidance that I have sought but didn’t find on how to market more effectively.

I have changed the way I talk about topics with my patients (balancing vs. Qi, for instance), and I have begun to educate my patients in new ways. And, based on your suggestions, I have begun a program of maintaining regular contact with current (and past) patients, and have sent out my first (of many) monthly postcard mailing. I have also created a database of patients’ birthdays and plan to send them birthday cards. I am also thinking about ways that I can make my clinic more “remarkable”.

Already, referrals are increasing, and existing patients are scheduling more consistently, and I’m only a third of the way through your wonderful book! It has revived my hope for having a busy, thriving practice.

Now I just need your ideas for how to build a new clinic, from scratch, as I’m planning to relocate next year to a small town…

I have been an acupuncturist and Natural Health Practitioner since 1995, and knew nothing about “selling”. I was a “silent” type of practitioner who thought that better treatment means more referrals. Therefore I always was improving my skills in treatment techniques and didn’t think about the process of selling.

As the result, my skills have improved tremendously, but the number of patients… absolutely not. Sometimes people got rid of chronic conditions they suffered from for years, but they accepted it as a normal fact. They never came back or sent me referrals.

When I read your book, I understood every mistake I’ve made, and sometimes continue to do it. The difference now that I do realise this is a mistake, and there is a way to improve the situation.

I do see in your book the system, all process of patient/practitioner relationship is like a chain, and if one part is broken, the whole system can fail.

As a matter of fact, currently I am in transition state- I’m going to relocate to Canada, therefore I closed my clinic, but my old patients continue to drop to my home. I started to implement your system a little bit and I do have results immediately. Now sometimes I must refuse to receive patients because of lack of time.

Before I read “Never Market Again” I tried out a lot of marketing ideas. But nothing really worked all that well. I wasted some money on newspaper ads which produced a few calls, no new patients, and a few thousands wasted away. I also tried an e-mail newsletter, which on its own is not that great and a lot of work. Just before I read your book, I planned a direct mail. And I spent too much money for the returns, but interestingly enough I got 3 new patients (out of 4 calls from over 1000 postcards).

I got to the point that I was even not that excited when someone called me because I would get into a discussion about Qi, blood, heat, and cold knowing they would give me a funny look. Then we would discuss money and I would never hear from them again.

I was feeling so frustrated, I was considering what else to do with my life. My practice wasn’t growing like I need to be to make a living, and I have another job to make ends meet for me and my family.

It’s been less than a month since I read “Never Market Again.” It has been a great month. I have gotten 7 new referrals. One of the funny things was I just thought about the thank you system, and put the idea into the world, and patients began referring their friends, it was great. Then I reinforced it with the new patients. So a patient from last summer referred her daughter, who referred her husband, who referred his father.

I have only put a small part of this system in place, and can’t wait to see what the whole system does for me. It’s inexpensive and it works. I am not sure how to put this, but it changed my life. I read it just at the right time.

I just got an incredibly positive response from asking a referral like you recommend – I came up with my own twist that fits me. My patient (who now thinks I’m cooler than ever) is about to go home and sell his friend on me. :D

    Hi Burton,

    I really enjoyed the manual. I’m a new practitioner and haven’t had a sounding board for how to get more patients. Your manual showed me what I’m doing right, and I am doing a lot right. But it also showed me some things I wouldn’t have thought of.

    The biggest one is expecting and asking for referrals. I already have two referrals from I know were from me asking for them in only one month after buying Never Market Again. I’m sure that more are “brewing” as they say.

    I read Never Market Again and started applying it in my practice that has definitely improved thanks to it. The concepts in never market again have changed my attitude in a very positive way and i’m gratefull for it, I think it’s more than a book about marketing, it’s a very good healing tool for the so called”spiritual” people who wait for the universial energy to sort out their/our financial and earthly needs.

    The first thing I tried to apply when I started reading never market again was the keeping in touch suggestion. I send a happy holiday greeting to all the people I treat, including those I have’nt seen for many months. most of them replied or called to greet me as well and then I got a call from a nice couple whom I used to treat about 2 years ago and they also asked to come in for an appointment. when they came in one of the first things they said was: “It”s so good you sent us this message, we needed help a few months ago and actually forgot about you…how embaracing, please keep in touch from time to time so we’ll think about you more often”

    So what can I say, it was exactly like you explain in the book and it covered the price of the order and renewed my relationships with old customers who are (like me) very happy and satisfied.

    I was alone, I was lost, I was overwhelmed with insecurity. Where to go? What to do? Who to talk to?

    I was under a mountain of stimulus when I first started my practice.

    I searched and searched for somewhere to start and that is when I found you.

    I read your book in pdf, then had it printed and bound. I read it again, making lists and notes.

    I got more patients, I got busier DOING acupuncture and I was a LOT less lost. I still refer to your book, I still use my lists.
